The Mannunters were an artificially made species that were created by the Guardians Of The Universe as their first attempt at making a team of peacekeepers to protect the universe. The Manhunters eventually rebelled against their creators and went to explore the 'unknown sector' and there they found the planet Biot and made it their home. After this disaster, the Guardians of the Universe founded the Green Lantern corps as their new intergalactic peacekeepers. At one point, Hal Jordan travelled through space, while being possessed by the parallax, leaving a path of death and destruction behind him. Along with this there were many Green Lanterns he left for dead throughout the universe and the Manhunters found these Lanterns and took them back to Biot to use as batteries. The corps presumed these Lanterns to be dead and they became known as 'The Lost Lanterns'. Tomar Tu was one of the Lost Lanterns and successfully esfcaped and told the Guardians what had happened, the other Lost Lanterns were saved and returned to Oa. The Manhunters later decided that they needed a 'grand master' to lead them and they chose Cyborg Superman, who was literally in pieces at the time. The Manhunters rebuilt him and he became their reluctant leader.
Biot has most recently been used as the bar of operations for Cyborg Superman.
